As most of you all know, today is Jake T. Austin’s 17th birthday! We couldn’t be any more proud of Jake and everything he’s accomplished! We wish the best for you in future projects and we’ll continue to support you no matter what!
Having wrapped the final season of Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place,” star Jake T. Austin is in final negotiations to join “Super 8″ thesp Joel Courtney in “Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn.”
Austin will play Huck Finn, while Courtney, who never had a role before “Super 8,” will play Tom Sawyer, as Variety first reported.
Jo Kastner is directing and producing with Marcus Weinhart. Production is skedded to start in August in Bulgaria.
Austin, best known for starring alongside Emma Roberts in “Hotel For Dogs,” recently voiced one of the lead roles in 20th Century Fox’s animated hit “Rio.” Thesp will soon be seen amidst the ensemble of Garry Marshall’s rom-com “New Year’s Eve,” which Warner Bros. will release through its New Line Cinema banner on Dec. 9.
Austin is repped by Paradigm, Principato-Young Entertainment and CESD.

David Henrie and Jake T. Austin work together at the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas on Monday afternoon (August 23).
The Wizards of Waverly Place actors worked alongside volunteers in an effort to provide local kids with recently-reformulated bread now made without high fructose corn syrup, which retains the taste they love and the nutrition parents appreciate – just in time for the back-to-school season.
David and Jake helped to donate 25,000 of Sara Lee Soft & Smooth bread to the food bank.
We could all use some advice some time on how to handle certain situations we are going through, right? We love when we get advice from those we care about that may help us throughout our entire lives. Wizards of Waverly Place’s Jake T. Austin told us the best advice he’s ever received and we think it could help us throughout our lives as well! He shared, “My mom gave me perhaps the absolute best advice I’ve ever been given. Since I could remember, she has always said to treat others the way you want to be treated, to do as you say, and say as you do, and to be true to yourself. I couldn’t have asked for a better mother.” How adorable is that?! We love the advice that his mom has given him and we think that they are good words to live by!

Will there be a ‘Wizards’ TV movie sequel? Yes there will be. We don’t know what the story is yet. We’re focusing now on going back to work on Season 4 and I think, at the moment, they’re coming up with a strong concept for the second movie. We want it to be a good, strong movie that wraps the season up but also leaves room for the imagination and the mystery of more. So, we’re hoping it’s going to be bigger and better
